PAN AFRICAN INVESTMENT CLIMATE SUMMIT

The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) in conjunction with the parent ministry, the Ministry of Tourism and Africa Investor will be hosting the Pan African Investment Climate Summit and the International Conference on Investment Opportunities in Tourism and Related Sectors (ICIOTRS) in Zimbabwe on 15-17 February 2010 at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC).

The Pan African Investment Climate Summit is the Africa Investor initiated business forum designed to among other things, facilitate, highlight and address project specific investment climate challenges and shed light on Africa’s investment opportunities. On the other hand, ICIOTRS is the inaugural tourism investment conference which is expected to provide Zimbabwe the chance to meaningfully engage existing and potential development partners, donor agencies and investors interested in exploring investment opportunities in tourism and related sectors such as Information Communication and Technology (ICT), Transport, Infrastructure Development, Energy and Banking.

Both the Summit and the Conference are designed to bring together participants from Zimbabwe, Africa and world at large including the donor community, international financial institutions, investors, African policy makers’ regional economic groupings (REGs) such as the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), and multilateral institutions such as the African Union, NEPAD, UN Agencies and the World Bank.

Through facilitated discussions the Pan African Investment Climate Summit will look at sector specific and regional investment projects that can support Africa in job creation, regional integration and enhance Africa’s competitiveness as a global as a global investment destination, whilst ICIOTRS will focus on investment opportunities directly and indirectly related to the tourism sector aimed at repositioning Zimbabwe as globally competitive tourism arrivals and investment destination.

Investment projects will be showcased through an exhibition which will run parallel to the Summit and Conference. To serious local and foreign investors, the Summit and the Conference are a “must attend” as they offers a convenient platform to network, initiate and conclude deals as well as forging strategic business alliances.
